Meet Leigh

Leigh is a Marin native and E-RYT 500 yoga teacher with over 2500 hours of kids yoga teaching experience.

She co-founded Community Yoga School with Shira Engel in 2012 to bring a sustainable yoga program to elementary school students at Green Street Arts Center in Middletown CT while attending Wesleyan University. For two years, Leigh taught yoga at Green Street and co-led a CYS Kids Yoga Teacher Training to sustain the yoga program certifying 20 kids yoga teachers. She was recruited to set up a kids yoga program for five-star resort Paradise Cove in Fiji's Yasawa Islands in 2013.

Leigh has worked closely with the Asian Art Museum's School and Teacher Programs, designed the curriculum used for the Yoga: The Art of Transformation exhibition and collaborated on the on-site school tours which received an overall rate of 9.8 on a 10 point scale.  For three years, she taught Health & Wellness at Willow Oaks Elementary in East Palo Alto.  Classes included yoga-based movement, stress management techniques and mindfulness techniques for students K-8.

She completed her MA in Education & California Teaching Credential at UC Berkeley as a Developmental Teacher Education (DTE) graduate student.

Today, Leigh is a Health & Wellness teacher at Ravenswood Middle School in East Palo Alto in partnership with the Pure Edge Inc and Stanford's Early Life Stress & Pediatric Anxiety Program.

She is currently in an extended herbalism course, Body Systems, at California School of Herbal Studies. Leigh is enthusiastic to bring a yoga program to her native community in Marin and looks forward to the opportunity to inspire and empower youth through movement.
